I’m a theologian, writer, and teacher in Boston, Massachusetts.

I’m currently lecturer on theology at Harvard University, where I earned my PhD. I’m also a columnist at The Christian Century, where I write a monthly column about theology, politics, and current events.

My research explores the intersection of Christian theology and politics in the modern West. In my new book, In the Twilight of the Christian West: A Theology of Mourning and Resistance, I offer a theological critique of contemporary Christian nationalist anxieties around secularization, immigration, and gender identity.
